Memorial Day & the Game Cube

So, Adam and I desperately needed and activity and we really didn't have much money until payday. So, we decide to break out the ol' Game Cube and go to Family Video and rent a game. We ended getting 3 because if you bought one of a certain type you got two older games for free. We got Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and the older ones were some weird Muppets game and one of the collections of old games from when I was little (Like Gauntlet, Root Beer Tapper, Marble Madness, Paperboy and like 20 more) Well, we picked the older two mostly because we wanted multiplayer games so we could play together...Well, that didn't happen because we apparently either lost our controllers or they were taken by one of our old friends who moved away. So, anyways I started playing Paper Mario because I LOVE Mario games and then Adam was interested in it after I played a little and he said he'd fight the battles and I'd do the rest. Well, 13 hours of game time later (yeah, the game tells you how many hours you have played) he's been playing the whole time. It doesn't really bother me though because the game is actually fun to watch and I help him if he ever gets stuck by getting hints online.
Otherwise we went to my parents house a few times this weekend. Saturday my parents and Lily and I all went to visit Grams at the nursing home. She just recently got a roommate and isn't very thrilled about that. The lady is quite the pain. Sunday, my parents made yummy Chop Suey so we went there for dinner and blueberry pie. Lily was super tired and took a 3 hour nap at my parents before we went out to rent video games (see above) Today was a grilling night at my 'rents...Hamburgers, brats & more blueberry pie. I came home shortly after dinner because Lily was tired & Adam is addicted to Paper Mario. But, Lily is STILL not asleep - she's nutz. Right now while I'm typing she is pointing to my Tulips so I can bring them down to her so she can sniff them...silly cutie she is.
UPDATE: Lily fell asleep in my arms when I hit the button to publish this blog post

The A/C has arrived

Well, we broke down and set up the Air Conditioner tonight. Adam hauled it up from the basement and set it up. He got quite a bruise while carrying it up the stairs but he survived. Our bedroom is still super hot so we are currently sleeping in the living room. Having a Queen sized mattress in the middle of our living room drives me bananas but Adam said he'll move it out at least to the hallway everyday so at least I won't feel like we are total bums.
So, it's Memorial Day weekend and such. Have you seen the forecast for Stevens Point? Saturday, Sunday and Monday's High temps are all 93 degrees! 93 DEGREES! Definitely breaking out Lily's tank tops and shorts this weekend! Weekend plans still kinda fuzzy. We'll be going to my parents for yummy chop suey one of the days and probably grilling out with the Frankliners one of the others.
Lily has been talking alot more these days. She's been saying things like "hot dog", "taco", "cheese", "car", "duckie", "thank you" (and that's just what I can remember her saying today) She's getting so smart and notices everything. Today my parents were coming over to pick us up and I swear she heard my parents car because she started pointing to the kitchen and when I carried her out there she started freaking out when she saw my parents car. It's so cute the things she does...
Well, I guess I should probably get to sleep now. I just finished watching "Cheaper By the Dozen 2" which I took notes on in the theatre but wanted to update them with the luxury of the pause button.

C is for Cookie...

So, I can't get "C is for cookie" out of my head...ARG
Anyways, went to the Frankliners tonight. A few of us went to McD's and then we went to Cold Stone Creamery which just opened. It was nice having a place like the Marble Slab Cremery we used to go to in Houston...but they do this weird thing there where they sing if you give them tips in the tip jar. They sang 3 diff songs while we were in line...disturbing. We ate our ice cream outside both because it was nice out and we didn't want to risk listening to more singing ;)
After that we played to special versions of SceneIt - Turner Classic Movie edition and HBO edition. Both were really hard and the HBO one was silly because alot of the questions were from Sex in the City which none of us there really watched. Lily was bored during our gaming so she was being captain distructo and such. I need to remember to bring her some activities next time we go somewhere. Poor Girl.

Cleaning is good...rain is nice

Well, I really have no topic to type about right now..but I figured since Lily is currently napping I might as well write something. I just watched "Grandma's boy" well, I actually have tried to watch it 3 times but it's really not worth it. I just did it for the notes. I got lots of cleaning done today and finally got to fold and put away a few baskets of clothes that I washed. That felt good, even thought there is always laundry to be done it seems.
It really poured today..hullo. Lily was so cute she climbed up on the couch so she could look out the window at the rain.
Sounds like plans are in the works to go to the Frankliners house tonight to play some SceneIt. I guess they want to play the TCM version which I got really cheap along with the HBO version for $5 each. They are both in my parents garage with the rest of my board games since trivia so we'll have to take a side trip there.
Well, I guess I should pack the ol' diaper bag while I have the time. Tata

Ken Jennings Book coming out

Well, if you don't know already, Ken Jennings book "Brainiac" is coming out this September. He visited us during trivia in 2005

Here is part of the summary "Brainiac traces that journey, from the slightly soused trivia faithful of Boston's Irish pubs to the hotshots and hotheads of the academic quiz bowl circuit, from a weekend quiz marathon spent with the radio-trivia-mad residents of tiny Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to a backstage peek at Ken's six-month streak on America's top-rated quiz show."

Another weekend update

Friday we spent at the Frankliners. Adam planned this card party but it didn't turn out exactly as planned because a friend from the Strat didn't end up showing up. But anyways, we played some cards and hung out. Then, we played a bunch of SceneIt but just clicking on the DVD and ignoring the board. Got back home at 2am then I did some major cleaning. ah, night cleaning. Then, at about 9am we hear knocking and yelling at our bedroom window. It was Adam's mom and sis telling us to open the door. Michelle had taken her drivers license in town and passed so she was super excited. They were only here for like 15 minutes but after they left we decided to drive to the Strat. We went grocery shopping at Davel's and and got some liquor at Baltus. They bought a pail of margarita mix that had to freeze for 8 hours. By the time they were ready to drink it, it was no where near ready so I mixed it with crushed ice and it turned out good. I made a daiquiri but only had a little bit because they didn't have any straws and drinking a daiquiri with a spoon isn't as fun. Saturday we had breakfast and hung out. We went to Marshfield and went to Shopko, Perkins and Starbucks.
Then, Adam and Lily took a nap while I watched "Nanny Mcphee" which was surprisingly good by the way. Then we watched Fox Sunday cartoons which ended up being 1 1/2 hours of Family Guy repeats even though they just kept saying it was "all new" Arg. Oh well, anyways long story short...got home at 10pm put Lily to sleep and now I'm taking notes on some tv shows.

Weekend Wrapup

The weekend was pretty good. Steve and fam were visiting so it was cool to hang out with them. We went to the Frankliners for a party Saturday night and played games. We played SceneIt & Trivial Pursuit and then the boys played Monopoly and various card games while Shaun and I watched The Blues Brothers. I took 12 pages of notes so it took me like 4 hours to watch a 2 1/2 hour movie. yikes. We didn't end up leaving there til 4am which was bad since we had to be a the nursing home for breakfast with Grams at 9am. We made it there though even though super tired. After breakfast Adam and Lily came home to nap while I finished my Grandma's mothersday project. I got her a really cute flippy photo album and I had to print some pictures for it. I went to Wal-mart and waited over 1 1/2 hours for the two people in front of me to do some picts. Finally it's my turn and I put the CD in and it doesn't find any picts. Being completely pissed off I go home to burn another CD. Then we have a delicious lunch at Hilltop with Mom, Dad, Grams, Becky, Nick, Braden, Steve, Lori, Matt, Danny, & Jonathan. I stopped back at Wal-mart to try my luck at the Kodak machine again. This time the girl in front of me only took like 5 seconds but the new CD didn't work either. I talk to the girl in the photo lab and she reboots the machine then my CD works. So, yeah arg. We went back to my parents house for presents and cake and to of course hang out with the fam. Then, went to watch Surivior before sleepytime.

Lily's Fun with Hats

Lily was having fun playing around in Wal*Mart and then we found the hat section. She wanted to try on every hat in the place. So cute.

Survivor/Sopranos Rant

Well, last night was the Survivor Season finale. It was 3 hours long (7pm-10pm) We usually go to the Frankliner's house to watch all the Survivors. Since the finale was on a Sunday, it conflicted with a normal episode of the Sopranos. So, we stopped by the Frankliners and I ran in to ask Aaron if we'd watch the whole Survivor Finale or if they'd switch over to watch Sopranos at 8pm (right in the middle of the finale). Aaron said they were going to watch Sopranos so Adam, Lily and I had to drive home quick so we could watch Survivor at home. Why does this piss me off? Well, It's like our thing to watch survivior together. Also, that episode of Sopranos was on 10 more times after that episode airing (I checked the yahoo tv guide) So, what why not watch all of a show that will NEVER be shown again rather than some other show that will be on 10 TIMES? Because they just don't care that much. Nice friends.

Busy Weekend

Saturday morning Adam, Lily and I went to the Family Fun walk and then the Family Fun Fest. They had some cool things like one of those huge blow up slides but we decided Lily was too little for that. She got to pet animals at the petting zoo there including a horse, ferret and a bunny.

After that Lily and I went to Jetta's bridal shower. Lily had lots of fun playing with the balloons there and running all over the place. I ended up winning 3 prizes including the grand prize which was a basket of girlie stuff like lotions and bath stuff...the game for that was where there was a list of product slogans and you had to name the product...so being trivia crazy I beat everyone by a lot.
Once we got back home we packed up and spent the rest of the weekend in the Strat. We PPV'd Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Sunday after watching a bunch of a "Ghost Hunter" marathon, we spent most of the day on the pontoon boat with Adam's parents and Michelle and her boyfriend Brandon. The only one who caught any fish was Brandon and he caught 3 but threw them all back. The one I saw him catch was really big but I guess he doesn't actually like to eat fish, just catch them so fishy went back for a swim. Lily liked playing in the bucket of water that the minnows were in. After the day on the lake we stayed inside watching Fox sunday shows until we went home at 9pm.

It's a girl thing

So, I've never really been a "typical" girl. I don't wear makeup or do my hair and I don't really like to talk on the telephone. The one thing I do like to do is paint my nails. I love it and I don't know why...makes me feel a little more pretty I guess.
Just a thought.

WE PASSED!

Well, the unthinkable has happened. We have passed our inspection. I guess what they really needed was shiny floors because that's all we really did differently. Here's hoping they don't do any more inspections until at least December which is when they usually do them.

Clean house...again.

I will procrastinate for a moment to do some blogging. I've been cleaning this house all week so if I don't pass this inspection I might cry. I spent the beginning of the week organizing and getting rid of some stuff..and of course some stuff just relocated to the basement. Yesterday and today were filled with scrub-a-dubbing. Adam helped out by mopping all the floors which was really nice. After he mopped I waxed all the floors. So, damnit people they are as clean and shiny as humanly possible!!! I had a nightmare the night before last that I was staying in a hotel room and the housing people came to inspect THAT. HULLO. I think they might be driving me a little crazy, you think? It smells really good in here which I do like alot. Tomorrow I'll do some last minute touch-ups but then probably leave the house so Lily doesn't destroy the clean by dumping toys everywhere.
